He was arraigned before a Lagos High Court on January 16, 2023, where he pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of murder. The case was presided over by Justice Ibironke Harrison.

On October 9, 2023, Justice Harrison convicted Vandi of murder and sentenced him to death by hanging. The judge held that the prosecution had proven the case against Vandi beyond all reasonable doubt.
