Prior to this, he worked as a speech writer for Mr. Yunus Carim, who was serving at the time as the Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
The University of Venda is where Brutus Malada received his education. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Education degree in 1998 and his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in 2001. When he was a student at Univen, he was elected to the Student Representative Council and served in that capacity throughout his time there. Brutus attended the University of Johannesburg and graduated with a Master of Education degree.

In addition, he has contributed as a guest columnist for some of South Africa’s most prominent national newspapers, such as the Sowetan, City Press, Star, and Sunday Independent.
