A huge fight broke out at a The Range store in Hull leaving one man with injuries covered in blood and another in a police car.
The brawl broke out towards the end of the UK’s first weekend in lockdown after the Prime Minister announced stricter measures to help tackle coronavirus on Monday so that people should only leave the house for limited reasons.
Yet shocking photos taken on Sunday afternoon show two men squaring up to each other while shopping at The Range, reports Hull Live.
One man wearing a face mask squared up to another shopper before he “headbutted” him and “smashed something” over his head.
Police and paramedics then sped to the scene of the fight at the entrance of the store.
It is understood that both employees at The Range and members of the public helped to restrain the attacker but he got free and continued the assault.
The pair squared up to each other in front of members of the public, and pictures show how another man jumped in to try to control the masked individual.
Before long he was being removed from the scene and thrown into the back of a police car.
The assault took place despite Britons being advised to only leave their homes for essential reasons and to not get within two meters of anyone else.
Supermarkets and shops items are the only places that have been allowed to stay open. All other non-essential businesses were forced to close when the Prime Minister announced lockdown last Monday.
After this afternoon’s incident at The Range, a witness described how the shop was “closed” and drivers were being turned away upon trying to enter the car park.
“I heard the woman he was with tell the police that something had kicked off near the tills,” the witness, who wanted to remain anonymous, said.
“It kicked off outside and then the manager started shouting at the guy to ‘get out’.
“Apparently the fracas arose inside.
“The bloke started shouting ‘who are you?’ He just stood there and the big guy headbutted him.
“He smashed something off his head. Everyone got involved and bustled him to the floor.
“He got up again and he punched someone from The Range.
“They’ve closed the shop and they’re turning cars away from the car park.”
It is understood that three police cars, including one from the dog section attended, along with an ambulance.
Humberside Police were contacted for comment.
